PIROTS SLOT OVERVIEW
The Pirots slot action begins on a 5x5 grid, but it can grow to as large as 8x8 when certain features are triggered. There is also a free drops bonus in which progress made during the base game carries over. Here is how the Pirots online slot game works, what its symbols do and what to know about its payout potential before playing.
Pirots is a pirate-themed slot developed by ELK Studios. Its main feature is the CollectR mechanic, which gives the four birds an active role in each round. The birds move around the grid and collect gems or feature symbols that match the relevant collection conditions. As the game progresses, the grid can expand and gem values can be upgraded.
This online casino game has a stated return to player (RTP) of 94.0% and a volatility rating of 7 out of 10. Stakes range from 10p to £5 per round, while the maximum win is capped at 10,000 times the bet. These figures describe the game's published settings; they do not predict the outcome of an individual session.
HOW TO PLAY PIROTS
Pirots starts with a 5x5 grid containing four coloured gem types and a range of special symbols. The four Pirots move around the grid, collecting symbols as they land. Each bird is associated with a gem colour, so its movement and collections determine how the symbols contribute to the round.
The gems have five possible win levels. As their levels increase, their values rise, with red gems carrying the highest values and blue gems the lowest. At Level 1, gem values range from 0.05x the bet for blue and green gems to 0.25x for red gems. At Level 5, the values range from 3x for blue gems to 15x for red gems. Purple and green gems sit between those amounts, reaching 7.5x and 5x respectively at the highest level.
The aim is to build collections, improve gem values and trigger the game's features. The grid can expand when a bomb symbol is collected, creating more space for symbols and bird movement. The game therefore changes as a round unfolds, rather than keeping the same layout throughout.
UNDERSTANDING THE COLLECTR MECHANIC
CollectR is the central mechanic in Pirots. The birds move around the grid and collect gems and feature symbols. When a bird collects a gem, its value contributes to the round's win. The collection process also helps build towards the game's features, so collecting symbols is important for more than their immediate value.
The four birds are linked to the four gem colours: blue, green, purple and red. Their activity determines which gems are collected and how certain upgrade and transformation symbols affect the grid. This connection between the birds and the gems is also important when considering the different special symbols.
PIROTS SLOT FEATURES AND SPECIAL SYMBOLS
There are six main feature-symbol categories in Pirots: Wild, Transform, Upgrade, Coin, Bomb and Bonus. The Upgrade symbol appears in two forms, white and multicoloured, each with a different effect.
PIROTS WILD SYMBOLS
Wild symbols substitute for gem symbols at their current respective win levels. They can therefore take the place of a gem while retaining the value associated with that level.
TRANSFORM SYMBOLS IN PIROTS
When a bird collects a Transform symbol, it changes a cluster of nearby gems. The gems can be transformed into the colour associated with the collecting bird, or into a randomly selected group of feature symbols. This can change the make-up of the grid and create further collection opportunities.
UPGRADE SYMBOLS
Pirots has two Upgrade symbols. The white version upgrades gems that match the colour of the bird that collected it. The affected gems increase by one to three win levels, up to Level 5. If the relevant gem colour is already at its maximum level, another randomly selected gem can be upgraded instead. No upgrade takes place if all gems have reached Level 5.
The multicoloured Upgrade symbol affects every gem colour at the same time, increasing their win levels by one to three steps, again up to Level 5. It cannot upgrade gems that are already at the maximum level.
COIN SYMBOLS
Coin symbols carry an assigned value. When a bird collects one, that value is multiplied by the current bet to determine the payout.
BOMB SYMBOLS
A collected Bomb symbol explodes when there are no more wins in view. The explosion removes nearby symbols, except feature symbols, leaving empty spaces that are then refilled. The birds are temporarily removed from the grid during the explosion and reappear at their nests as the symbols refill, taking up new positions.
The explosion also expands the grid. This can increase its size up to a maximum of eight rows by eight columns, compared with the starting 5x5 layout. Grid expansion is one of the game's most distinctive features, as it changes the space available for subsequent collections.
PIROTS BONUS SYMBOLS
Bonus symbols are collected by the birds. Collecting three during the normal game triggers the Free Drops bonus game and awards five free drops. Further sets of three Bonus symbols collected during the bonus award additional free drops.
THE PIROTS FREE DROPS BONUS GAME
The Free Drops bonus is triggered when the birds collect three Bonus symbols during the normal game. The feature starts with five free drops and uses the grid's current number of rows and columns, so it can begin on an expanded grid if that has already been achieved.
Several elements carry over into the bonus: the grid size, the symbol collection and the win levels of the gems. This means the bonus continues from the state reached in the base game rather than resetting those elements. Collecting another three Bonus symbols during the feature awards additional free drops.
Winnings are paid at the end of the bonus mode. Bets cannot be changed during an ongoing game round, and if the 10,000x win cap is reached, the round ends immediately and the winnings collected up to that point are paid out.
PIROTS RTP, VOLATILITY AND BETTING LIMITS
Pirots has an RTP of 94.0%. Remember: RTP is a theoretical figure calculated over a very large number of game rounds; it is not a forecast of what an individual player will receive back. Actual results can vary considerably.
The game's volatility is rated 7 out of 10, indicating a high-volatility experience. Remember (in general), higher-volatility slots can have less frequent wins and greater variation in results. This rating does not guarantee a particular pattern of wins or losses.
The minimum stake is 10p and the maximum is £5 per round. Pirots has a maximum win cap of 10,000 times the placed bet. Once that cap is reached, the round ends and the wins accumulated so far are paid out. The game rules also state that bets and wins are void in the event of a malfunction.
PIROTS GEM VALUES
The four regular paying symbols are blue, green, purple and red gems. Each colour has five win levels, with the value increasing as the gem is upgraded. Red gems have the highest values at every level, followed by purple, green and blue.
At the lowest level, blue and green gems are worth 0.05x the bet, purple gems are worth 0.10x and red gems are worth 0.25x. At Level 5, the values rise to 3x for blue, 5x for green, 7.5x for purple and 15x for red. The Upgrade symbols are therefore important because they can increase the value of gems already in play.
Special symbols have separate functions rather than standard gem values. Wilds substitute for gems, Coins pay their assigned value multiplied by the active bet, and the Transform, Upgrade, Bomb and Bonus symbols activate their respective features.
OUR VERDICT: IS PIROTS WORTH PLAYING?
Pirots stands out through its CollectR mechanic and the way its grid can evolve during a round. The four birds give the game a clear central idea, while the six feature-symbol categories add several ways for the grid and gem values to change. The Bomb symbol's ability to expand the playing area up to 8x8 is particularly distinctive.
The Free Drops bonus also has a clear connection to the base game, with the grid size, collections and gem win levels carrying over rather than starting again. This gives the feature continuity, although it also means that understanding the CollectR mechanic is important before entering the bonus.
With a 7/10 volatility rating, a 94.0% RTP and a maximum win of 10,000x the bet, Pirots combines a relatively complex feature set with a straightforward visual theme. Players looking for a slot built around collecting, upgrading and transforming symbols may find its mechanics appealing. As with any slot, its theoretical figures and maximum win should not be taken as an indication of likely results.
